Ag Min says sees no preconditions for strong food price rise

MOSCOW, Apr 6 (PRIME) -- The Russian food market situation is stable and has no preconditions for a sharp wholesale price growth, the Agriculture Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

"The Agriculture Ministry constantly monitors the farmers’ prices for the key categories of food. The ministry sees the situation as stable and sees no preconditions for a sharp wholesale price rise for any goods category," it said.

The Federal State Statistics Service said that the carrot prices rose by 14.8%, potato by 13.4%, beetroot by 11.2%, onion by 7.5%, chicken by 7.2%, cabbage by 6.7%, eggs 5.3%, mutton 5% in March.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service pledged to check the pricing mechanisms for eggs in the largest country's retailers. The authority is also auditing pricing of vegetable producers.
